Divas at the Doubletree brought almost 400 women to an evening of fun and glamour. More than 60 tuxedo-clad men were enlisted from the Santa Barbara Fire Department, the Coast Guard and Harbor Patrol to wait on their every whim. The evening included limousine and red carpet entry, tiaras, champagne, margaritas, food stations and a chocolate fountain -- all donated by 125 generous sponsors.

In the Rotunda, the women could get a new hairstyle, a health massage, a card reading, a signature analysis, palm and psychic readings and try their luck at Lady Luck Casino.

It was the second annual Gowns & Crowns fundraiser presented by Momentum 4 Life to benefit the Cancer Center of Santa Barbara's Wellness Center, located at 540 W. Pueblo St. in Santa Barbara, and 2040 Viborg Road in Solvang.

According to staff, anyone with cancer, regardless of where they receive treatment, can participate in the wellness programs at no charge. More than 60 programs are offered each month, with qualified facilitators. Participants do not have to be referred by a physician but they are encouraged to inform their health care provider. Some programs are group-oriented and others provide individualized support and are offered on a drop-in basis. For information, call 898-2204 or 898-2114.
