2006 - The Cancer Center's Wellness Center
Divas at the
Doubletree brought almost 400 women to an evening of fun and
glamour. More than 60 tuxedo-clad men were enlisted from the Santa
Barbara Fire Department, the Coast Guard and Harbor Patrol to wait
on their every whim. The evening included limousine and red carpet
entry, tiaras, champagne, margaritas, food stations and a chocolate
fountain -- all donated by 125 generous sponsors.
In the Rotunda, the women could get a new hairstyle, a health massage,
a card reading, a signature analysis, palm and psychic readings and
try their luck at Lady Luck Casino.
Founded more than a half century ago, the Cancer Center of Santa
Barbara has provided medical care in three departments: Radiation
Oncology, Hematology/Medical Oncology and Nuclear Medicine. We seek
to offer our services in a climate of ever-increasing demands on
health care. The Cancer Center meets this challenge with a committed
staff, strong community support and true belief in its mission.
In addition to providing cancer treatment, the Cancer Center maintains
a variety of cancer support services including: clinical research
trials, wellness programs, counseling and cancer support groups.
We strive to provide patients with the best possible chance for recovery.
Of the estimated five million people in the United States who have,
or have had, cancer, approximately 60% are considered cured. Until
100% of these patients are cancer-free, the Cancer Center will continue
its work, treating Santa Barbara's cancer patients with professionalism
and compassion.
